IBU Partners with Sportradar to Safeguard Biathlon Integrity

The World Biathlon Federation (IBU) has teamed up with Sportradar Integrity Services to oversee wagering activities during its competitions. This long-term collaboration will employ Sportradar’s comprehensive Fraud Detection System (UFDS) to monitor all IBU tournaments, encompassing significant events such as the World Championships and World Cup. Should Sportradar’s system detect any questionable betting patterns, the BIU, the IBU’s ethics unit, will conduct a thorough investigation.

This partnership expands upon an established connection between the two entities. Since 2020, the BIU has been leveraging Sportradar’s intelligence and investigative capabilities, drawing upon their extensive network of specialists.

Greg McKenna, director of the BIU, stressed the significance of this alliance, stating that the IBU acknowledges the danger match manipulation presents to all sports and the vital role bet surveillance plays in its prevention. He is confident that this joint effort will provide them with one of the most robust integrity frameworks in athletics, guaranteeing a fair competitive environment for the foreseeable future.

Andreas Krannich, Managing Director of Sportradar Integrity Services, emphasized the increasing worldwide betting interest in biathlon, underscoring the necessity for strong integrity safeguards.

The global governing body for biathlon, the IBU, is firmly committed to combating competition manipulation. They are collaborating with the IBIA, an organization dedicated to wagering integrity, to maintain the sport’s purity and equitable competition. This alliance underscores their dedication to proactively addressing any questionable gambling practices. Concurrently, Sportradar, a firm renowned for its expertise in sports information and ethical conduct, is broadening its partnership with Betway, an international gaming provider.
