Tampere Casino to Feature Mandatory Patron Verification

Veikkaus, Finland’s government-owned gaming company, anticipates the UROS Live Arena in the center of Tampere to be finished by December 2021. The arena will house the operator’s latest gambling establishment, the Tampere Casino.

The venue’s design will be a collaborative effort with various professionals, including Finnish interior designers and audio-visual and media specialists. Areas specifically designed for social gaming will feature new offerings and methods to ensure responsible gambling practices.

Based on current plans, the Tampere Casino will employ approximately 80 individuals. Recruitment will commence gradually in the early months of 2021. The majority of employees will be engaged in customer service and will undergo specialized training emphasizing the creation of an environment that prioritizes social responsibility and tailored customer experiences.

The operator envisions the new casino as “a leader in the European casino landscape, a pioneer in responsible gambling environments and a novel type of arena casino.”

These plans involve putting into action a fresh registration system that will necessitate account gaming for all patrons and introducing novel responsible gambling tools.

Vegas recently advocated for the early introduction of mandatory patron verification on its network, which was initially scheduled to be implemented in its physical locations in 2023. The operator stated last month that it would implement the measure in January 2021 at its Feel Vegas and Pelaamo gaming venues as part of its effort to combat underage gambling.

Furthermore, beginning in January, customers utilizing the operator’s dispersed slot machines in stores, kiosks, gas stations, and restaurants will also be required to register to gamble.

Sami Aho, General Manager of Tampere Casino, stated: “Vegas Casino will be a forerunner in responsible gambling. Verification provides our patrons with gaming control tools that they can use to manage their gaming, such as setting gaming limits or opting to completely prohibit gaming.”

Plans to introduce mandatory patron verification have been in place since 2019, and Vegas anticipates the plan to be implemented at its existing Helsinki Casino in the spring of 2021, prior to the December opening of the Tampere Casino.

At present, patrons at the existing Helsinki Casino must register, and under the new measures, they will be required to display their casino card at all times before engaging in slot machines or table games.

Finlands casino verification process deviates from the verification system employed at other Veikkaus gaming centers and retail locations, where only participants in their customer loyalty program are obligated to sign in prior to engaging in gameplay.

“Solely permanent inhabitants of Finland are eligible to join the loyalty program,” clarified Tina Siltanen, the Chief Executive Officer of Helsinki Casino. “Our casino welcomes numerous international visitors, rendering mandatory verification linked to Veikkaus an unsuitable alternative.”
